Buy Heat-Resistant Steel Online

We take you on a short excursion into the realm of heat-resistant steel and show you where to order it most quickly and easily.

Where things get particularly hot, materials are exposed to particular stress. This means you have to make sure you choose correctly at the time of purchase. That naturally also applies to steel, which is available in many different grades - including various types of heat-resistant steel such as heat-resistant steel 1.4841 or heat-resistant steel 1.4876.

At ESC Burg we stock several of them and prefer to advise our customers personally on the selection. But we would like to take this opportunity to pass on our knowledge. What are the special properties of heat-resistant steel? Is heat-resistant stainless steel further divided into different temperature ranges?

We take you on a short excursion into the realm of heat-resistant steel. And of course we also reveal where you can order it most quickly and easily.

What distinguishes heat-resistant steel?

At first, you might assume it is simply a steel that does not melt at high temperatures. But heat-resistant steel can do much more - it is not just about the melting point.

The more important property is that the steel remains dimensionally stable, and thus load-bearing, even at very high temperatures. An increased proportion of chromium, aluminium or silicon creates an oxide layer that protects heat-resistant stainless steel.

Fundamentally, heat-resistant steel must be divided into ferritic and austenitic steel. A further variant achieves heat resistance through a nickel-based alloy.

Heat-resistant stainless steel properties at a glance:

  • Scale-resistant thanks to an oxide layer
  • Very high creep resistance at high temperatures
  • Corrosion-resistant even at high temperatures
  • Stable microstructure
  • Insensitive to recurring temperature fluctuations (no embrittlement)
  • Generally a high mechanical load capacity

Where is heat-resistant steel used?

It is essentially used in the temperature range between 500 and 1,150 degrees Celsius. It is therefore no surprise that heat-resistant steel is used above all in the ceramics industry and the glass industry.

Heat-resistant stainless steel is also predominantly used in hardening shops, waste incineration plants and steam boilers. Furnace construction is practically inconceivable without this material.

But we do not only encounter heat-resistant steel in industry. It is installed in almost every car - precisely where combustion temperatures are highest, at the exhaust manifold.

A distinction must be made according to the temperature reached in the steel's environment. We therefore differentiate between:

  • Heat-resistant steel 1,000 degrees
  • Heat-resistant steel 1,200 degrees
  • Heat-resistant steel 1,400 degrees

Where can you obtain heat-resistant stainless steel?

It is obvious that this is a very special material and therefore not a typical product for a DIY store. Private customers very rarely ask for this special steel - which of course also has reasons rooted in the difficulty of processing stainless steel.

In use, every last millimetre counts. Otherwise gaps arise through which air and liquids can penetrate. A leaking furnace or a stainless steel shelf with gaps is simply unusable. It goes without saying, then, that heat-resistant stainless steel forgives no mistakes in cutting and forming. Special tools are also required, which are not part of a hobbyist's standard equipment.

Processing requires expertise

Locally, that leaves only the specialist metalworking company. However, they primarily target regular customers and larger order volumes. Moreover, it is never certain that you will get heat-resistant steel such as stainless steel 1.4571 or sheet 1.4828 there - because the local specialist, too, focuses mainly on simple steels.

This is where we come in. We have been around for more than 100 years and have focused on one product: stainless steel.

This means we not only know the various grades of steel and stainless steel inside out, but also know exactly how to process them. We have machines that allow us to handle large and small orders quickly and efficiently.

We deliver heat-resistant stainless steel conveniently to your door

This should be particularly interesting for you. Instead of trying your luck with regional suppliers, you can have individual sheets of heat-resistant steel delivered to your home by us. If you think you will have to wait long for them, we must disappoint you: thanks to lean, optimised processes, we dispatch almost every order within 48 hours of receipt.

Thanks to secure packaging, you no longer have to concern yourself with cutting heat-resistant steel. Instead, you can already start planning how to install it - because we guarantee you a product that arrives in exactly the dimensions you specified and completely undamaged.

We can do more than just cut

Our experience has shown that most customers need more than just a stainless steel sheet. A special surface finish is often required, which is why we also offer professional surface treatment - including dry grinding and foil protection.

We also have machines for forming sheets. So if you need an L-profile or a Z-profile, for example, we can produce it for you in individual dimensions. You get absolutely uniform edges that ensure both a perfect fit and the highest visual standards.

The customer is our focus

Stainless steel is our passion. Every one of our employees could inform and advise you about it - but we have bundled this important function in our experienced sales team. Our colleagues will work with you to find out which heat-resistant steel is optimal for your planned use. We make no distinction between a key account commissioning series production and a private customer who only needs one special sheet.

Simply try it out without obligation. Call us and we can quote you the price for sheets of heat-resistant stainless steel in no time at all. If you order from us, we will put your job into production immediately - as a rule, your product is then manufactured within less than 48 hours.

For a topic as specialised as heat-resistant steel, rely on the support of a professional. With us, you get everything from a single source, from advice to delivery. And believe us: we are even more critical of our own performance than any customer. That is why you can rely on quality and service at ESC Burg.
